Christmas Eve Dinner
Here is a great recipe from my Soulful Helpings cookbook (now available at Calgary Co-op stores). A savory sensation that is sure to warm your heart as well as your tummy. Serve with carrots and green beans.
Tourtiere
2 Tbsp. Butter
1 Small onion chopped
1 Clove crushed garlic
1/2 Lb. Lean ground veal
1 Lb. Lean ground pork
2 Tbsp. Chopped fresh thyme
2 Tbsp. Chopped fresh sage
2 Tbsp. Chopped fresh parsley
1 Tbsp. Chopped fresh rose-mary
1 Tsp. Poultry seasoning
1 Tsp. Salt
1 Tsp. Pepper
1/4 Cup Flour
1 1/2 Cup Beef stock
1 Recipe Rich plain pastry (enough for a double crust 9 inch pie). Use your own pastry or buy prepared pastry shells.
Mushroom Gravy
2 Tbsp. Butter ¼ Cup Finely chopped onion 2 Cups Sliced mushrooms 2 Tbsp. Flour 2 Cups Beef stock ½ Tsp. Salt ½ Tsp. Pepper ½ Tsp. Dried thyme 1 Tbsp. Liquid beef concentrate
